The Club wishes to announce our upcoming Winter Training Program for the Cronulla Water Polo Academy. This will be in replacement of enterring teams into the WPNSW Winter Metro Juniors Competition. It is designed to enhance individual skills and foster a stronger, more connected community within our club. We understand that this change will be met with questions and concerns, but we firmly believe that this shift in our program structure will benefit all involved, setting a foundation for future success both in and out of the pool.

Program Details:
Duration: 12 weeks, commencing Mid to Late May
Frequency: 3 training sessions (including scrimmages) per fortnight. Sessions will likely occur on 1 weeknight and 1 weekend morning or afternoon.
Age Group: 12 to 17 years inclusive

Cost: $150 (Existing members)

New Members are welcome, please contact the club via email: info@cronullawaterpolo.com.au to register your interest. We are awaiting details of capitation fees set by WPA / WPNSW hence the inability to accurately provide costs at this time.

Registration Deadline: Please register by 5pm Friday, 10th May 2024

Why the Change?
This year, we have decided to adjust our training program based on the current structure of the Water Polo NSW Winter Competition, which offers 8 weeks of limited developmental benefits. We recognise the need to adapt to the evolving needs of our players, aiming to maximise the benefits of our training environment to ensure development is beyond simply limited game play.

Opportunities Ahead:

Individual Skill Development:
Our priority is to enhance individual technical skills, identified by our technical director and senior coaching staff as crucial for preparing our players not just for the upcoming Summer Season but also in their future aspirations.

Multi-sport Engagement:
As a club we encourage our academy members to also participate in other sports during the winter season as it promotes individual holistic development and contributes to longevity in sports.

Coach Identification and Development:
Identifying and nurturing coaching talent is critical within our club. Investing in our coaches is as vital as investing in our athletes.

Community Reset and Reconnection:
This program offers a chance for our community— coaches, managers, officials, members, and families— to reset, reconnect, and rejuvenate after years of dedicated service and personal challenges.

Long-Term Performance Improvement:
By investing in technical proficiency and fostering a unified approach, we aim to work towards improved success at all levels of competition over the long term.

We are confident that this shift in focus over the long term will elevate our club's performance and enhance the overall experience for our members.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all poolside again very soon!

Best Regards,

Cronulla Water Polo
