Save on your phone plan and support the club

Our club has partnered with Shire-based Telstra wholesaler "Cloudkitchen" to offer members competitive mobile plans while creating a new revenue stream for the club.

Most of us already pay for a mobile plan each month. By switching to a club-supported plan, you may pay less for your mobile service while helping support the club at the same time.

They handle everything involved in switching and running your service, including:

• Activating your plan
• Porting your existing phone number
• Billing
• Ongoing Australian-based customer support

Each member who joins generates ongoing revenue for the club, helping support our operations.


Why it benefits our members

These plans are designed to compete with monthlyTelstra Direct pricing (and other providers), often at a significantly lower monthly cost. It is unlikely this is a viable option for people locked into a contract (e.g. 12/24 months) or those who paid a year in advance.

How to get started

Switching is simple.

Step 1

Check your current phone bill to see how much data you typically use each month.

Step 2

Choose a plan that suits your needs.

Step 3

Complete some basic details via this survey. 

Providing a copy of your current mobile bill can also help ensure the most suitable plan is selected.

Step 4

The provider will organise activation and transfer your existing number to the new service.

FAQs

Network and coverage

Q: Is coverage exactly the same as Telstra? 
The Telstra wholesale and Telstra retail networks are slightly different; they use the same network infrastructure, but wholesale operates at around 98-99% of the direct network. In City and suburban areas, it is the same; it can vary in very regional areas.

Q: Are speeds the same as Telstra direct plans?
For mobile yep! It's 4G and 5G
For NBN the same speed plans are available

Q: Are there any limitations on the Telstra wholesale network?
No, the only difference is your customer support is handled on-shore in Australia (Sutherland Shire) by Cloudkitchen, NOT by Telstra.

Switching process

Q: What is actually required for the switch to occur?
Contact (call 02 8069 2434) Cloudkitchen during business hours to advise that you are ready to migrate. If you elect to use an eSIM, this can be done at any point. If you want a physical SIM card, they will need to send it to you first. They will do the rest!

Q: How long does the number transfer take?
Less than 10 minutes. 

Q: Will my phone stop working during the switch?
Yes, you will briefly lose mobile coverage (but not wifi if you are connected)

Q: Do I need to cancel my existing plan myself?
No, Cloudkitchen handle everything for you. Sometimes with NBN, your old provider won't cancel your old subscription, so it's always good to keep an eye on your final bill! If any more come through, don’t ignore them, as the provider may still be charging you after you port away.

Phones and compatibility

Q: Will my current phone work on this plan?
Yes, assuming it is not locked to a specific provider. 

Q: Do I need to unlock my phone first?
Only if it is locked to a specific provider.

Q: Can I move multiple family numbers?
Yes, and this is recommended if you have multiple numbers with another provider.

Plans and pricing

Q: Are the plans month-to-month or locked into contracts?
Month to month. 

Q: Can I change plans later? 
Yes, you can upgrade at any time. 

Q: What happens if I exceed my data allowance?
If the user exceeds their data and has none saved in their data bank, they will be assigned a 2GB data bolt on for $10, once that runs out they will be given another. This can happen up to 5 times; then users will move to PAYG data, which is expensive. Services by default have a $400 excess spend amount, which can be curbed down to $50 is requested.

Yes, Cloudkitchen are based in the Sutherland Shire.

Q: What happens if I travel internationally?

Telstra wholesale roaming is different to Telstra retail. The user will receive a text from Telstra Wholesale saying, " Welcome to “insert country” If you would like to use your phone, please choose from the following options and text either ROAM5, ROAM10, or ROAM3 to 179 to activate your travel pack. Q: How much revenue does the club receive per member? 
The club receives a small commission for each mobile under this plan.

Q: Does it cost the club anything to run this program? 
No, Cloudkitchen proudly support community sport and do not charge the club for this partnership.

No, any technical challenges are handled by Cloudkitchen, and further upstream through Telstra.
